Island Beauty Tips – Skincare in the Tropics

Living in Hawaii means sunshine, salty air, and lots of time outdoors. I absolutely love the island life, but my skin definitely needed time to adjust when I first moved here.

The hot sun, humidity, and frequent beach days can be tough on the skin—so I’ve had to find the right balance between protection and hydration. Today, I’m sharing some of my favorite skincare tips for tropical living!

1. Hydration is Everything

The sun and ocean can easily dry out your skin, so I focus on keeping my skin deeply hydrated every day.

• In the morning, I use a lightweight, water-based moisturizer that doesn’t feel sticky

• I always keep a hydrating face mist in my bag and spray it throughout the day—it’s a lifesaver in the heat!

2. Reef-Safe Sunscreen is a Must

I never skip sunscreen—ever! It’s one of the most important steps in my skincare routine, especially in a tropical climate.

Plus, I always choose reef-safe formulas to protect not only my skin, but also the ocean we love so much.

(I’ll be sharing some of my favorite sunscreen products in a future post!)

3. Gentle Cleansing After the Beach

After swimming or spending the day outside, I make sure to gently cleanse my face to remove salt, sunscreen, and sweat.

• I use a soft, non-stripping cleanser at night

4. Keep It Light

In hot and humid weather, heavy products can feel too much. That’s why I keep my routine simple and light.

Thanks for reading! I hope these tips help you keep your skin glowing—even in the heat and humidity.
