Traveling with family always brings a special kind of joy. This time, I went on a 4-day girls’ trip to Taipei with my mom and sister—and it turned out to be one of the sweetest and most heartwarming trips we’ve taken together. From bustling night markets to quiet teahouses in the mountains, here’s how we spent our days in Taiwan.
🛬 Day 1: Night Market Adventures at Ningxia Night Market

We arrived in the evening and decided to explore the nearest night market—Ningxia Night Market, which was only a short walk from our hotel. The atmosphere was buzzing with energy, delicious smells, and endless food stalls.
Some of our favorites:
- Grilled squid with cucumber
- Fried taro balls
- Mango shaved ice
- And of course, a fresh cup of bubble tea to wrap it all up!
It was the perfect way to ease into our trip.

🏙️ Day 2: City Views, Xiao Long Bao & Café Hopping

This day was all about checking off my mom’s must-see list!
- Taipei 101 Observation Deck
We took in the breathtaking view of the city from the top of Taipei 101. (Tip: You can get tickets in advance through Klook to skip the line!) - Din Tai Fung
No Taipei trip is complete without their legendary xiao long bao. We went to the Taipei 101 location and tried all kinds of dumplings—mom was in heaven. - Strolling Through Yongkang Street
This trendy area is full of cute cafes and boutiques. We found a cozy café with amazing lattes and just enjoyed people-watching. - Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall
We finished the day with a peaceful walk through this historical site. The open space and traditional architecture were stunning, especially at sunset.

🏮 Day 3: Lanterns in Shifen & Ghibli Vibes in Jiufen

This was our most magical day.
- We took an Uber to Shifen, wrote our wishes on a sky lantern, and watched it float up into the sky. My mom smiled the whole time—it was a special moment for all of us.
- From there, we went to Jiufen, a mountain town that inspired scenes from Spirited Away. The narrow alleys, red lanterns, and teahouses were like stepping into a movie. We even had a little tea time with a view!
🍍 Day 4: Souvenir Shopping & Herbal Hot Pot

On our last day, we picked up souvenirs like pineapple cakes and face masks for friends back home.
Then, we wrapped up the trip with a memorable dinner at Wulao Hot Pot (無老鍋)—my first time trying herbal hot pot! It was unique, flavorful, and so comforting after a long day. I’d definitely recommend it for anyone looking for a more local dining experience.
🧳 Travel Tips:
- We used Holafly eSIM for smooth mobile data (highly recommend!).
- Uber worked well for getting to places like Shifen.
- Booking activities through Klook helped us save time and money.
💬 Final Thoughts
This trip reminded me how precious family time is. Whether we were laughing at the night market, lighting lanterns, or simply sipping tea together, every moment felt meaningful. If you’re thinking of taking your mom or sister on a getaway, Taipei is a wonderful choice!
