One of the things I love most about traveling is how it gives me space to slow down and reconnect — not just with a place, but with myself.
Over time, I’ve found that no matter where I am, starting my day with a little structure and intention completely shifts how the rest of the day unfolds. So here’s what my ideal 1-hour morning routine looks like while traveling, especially when I’m somewhere surrounded by nature like Mount Shasta or the Big Island.
☀️ 0:00–0:10 — Wake Up Slowly
I try not to reach for my phone right away. Instead, I open the window, stretch a little, and just listen — to the birds, wind, or quiet. If I’m near trees, I love hearing the leaves rustle.
This is my favorite way to wake up gently and be fully present.
🌿 0:10–0:25 — Light Movement or Walk
If I’m staying somewhere with a yard, I’ll go outside barefoot and stretch or do a few yoga poses. If I’m near a trail or beach, a short walk helps me wake up without needing coffee (yet).
It’s not a workout — it’s just about waking up the body.
☕ 0:25–0:40 — Morning Drink + Journaling
I usually make mushroom coffee or herbal tea — something warm and grounding. Then I’ll journal.
Some days I write about what I’m grateful for. Other days, it’s just stream-of-consciousness — getting thoughts out of my head so I can enjoy the day with a clear mind.

📿 0:40–1:00 — Meditation or Breathwork
Depending on how I feel, I’ll sit for 10–15 minutes of quiet time. Sometimes I use a guided meditation; sometimes I just sit, close my eyes, and breathe.
If I’m in a place like Mount Shasta or Hawaii, I’ll do it outside and really focus on the feeling of the sun and wind.

🌞 Why I Love This Routine
It doesn’t require anything fancy. Just time, space, and intention. Even 1 hour in the morning can shift my entire mood, mindset, and energy for the day — especially while traveling.
Wherever I go, this is how I remind myself: slow is powerful.
