Mindful Travel: Places That Help Me Feel Grounded in Nature

There are some places that feel… different. The air is softer. The energy is quieter. And the moment you arrive, your shoulders drop and your breath deepens. I like to call these my “reset spots” — places in nature that help me slow down, reconnect, and come back to myself.

Here are a few of the places that give me that feeling.

🌿 Judd Trail, Oahu

A shaded loop trail in the middle of lush forest, just minutes from downtown Honolulu.

It’s not a big hike, but it’s one of those spots where time seems to pause. The bamboo groves, gentle stream crossings, and birdsong always bring me back to center.

🌄 Mount Shasta, California

Shasta has an energy that’s hard to explain. It’s calm and powerful at the same time. Whether I’m walking around Lake Siskiyou, sitting at Sisson Meadow, or hiking near Mossbrae Falls, I always leave feeling lighter.

You don’t have to believe in vortexes to feel something shift here.

🌋 Haleakalā, Maui

Watching the sunrise from above the clouds at Haleakalā is something I’ll never forget. It’s cold, quiet, and almost otherworldly. You stand there in silence, surrounded by sky, and something inside you shifts.

Later in the day, walking through the crater feels like being on another planet — in the best, most humbling way.

🧘 Sedona, Arizona

With its red rocks and famous vortexes, Sedona feels like a natural sanctuary. Every time I hike there, I feel more present — like I’m walking through something sacred.

Cathedral Rock and Bell Rock are especially powerful. And the sunsets? Pure magic.

🌋 Volcanoes National Park, Big Island

There’s something sacred about standing near an active volcano. It reminds me of the raw power of nature, and how small (and beautiful) we all are.

This is a place of creation and destruction — and deep reflection.

Final Thoughts

These are just a few of the places that have helped me feel grounded when I needed it most.

No Wi-Fi, no to-do list — just air, space, and the sound of my own breath.

Where do you go when you need to reconnect?
