I’ve always been curious about so-called “energy vortexes” — those places where people say the energy feels stronger, calmer, or more intense. Two of the most famous ones in the U.S. are Sedona, Arizona and Mount Shasta, California.
I’ve now visited both, and while I don’t consider myself particularly spiritual or sensitive, I definitely noticed something. So here’s my honest, grounded take on how these two places compare — in vibe, energy, and experience.
🧘 Sedona – Earthy, Electric, and Expansive
Sedona is stunning. The red rocks, the open skies, the glow at sunset — it all feels powerful. But more than that, there’s a buzzing kind of energy here.
I visited Cathedral Rock and Bell Rock, two of the most well-known vortex sites. I didn’t have a sudden spiritual awakening, but I did feel something… like a low hum in the background. My body felt more alive, my thoughts more clear.
Sedona’s energy, to me, feels outward — like it’s inviting you to open up, expand, and express.

🌄 Mount Shasta – Quiet, Deep, and Grounding
Mount Shasta, on the other hand, feels more inward. It’s calmer, quieter, and deeply grounding. While Sedona made me feel energized, Shasta made me feel held.
I spent time at Lake Siskiyou, Mossbrae Falls, and Sisson Meadow. Everywhere I went, I felt like I could exhale more fully. Time slowed down.
Shasta’s energy is earthy and stabilizing — perfect for reflection, journaling, or just being.

💭 Final Thoughts
You don’t have to believe in vortexes to feel the difference these places offer. Whether it’s the landscape, the atmosphere, or something unseen, both Sedona and Shasta offer unique opportunities to reconnect with yourself.
If you want to open up and energize, go to Sedona.
If you want to slow down and go inward, visit Shasta.
I’m grateful I got to experience both — and I’d happily return to either when my soul needs something only nature can give.
