Sapporo Photo Diary – Day 2: Shrines, Sweets, and Sapporo Beer

Day 2 in Sapporo was all about local flavor — from sacred shrines to chocolate parks and fresh seafood. The weather was breezy and mild, perfect for a full day of exploring both the spiritual and the sweet sides of the city.

☕ Morning at MORIHICO. Stay & Coffee

I started my day with a latte and croissant at MORIHICO. Stay & Coffee, just around the corner from my Airbnb. It’s cozy, quiet, and perfect for a slow start.

⛩️ Hokkaido Jingu Shrine & Maruyama Park

After breakfast, I took the subway to Hokkaido Jingu Shrine. The peaceful grounds were shaded by tall trees, and the soft sounds of wind and footsteps gave the whole place a meditative feel. I continued my walk through Maruyama Park, full of greenery and calm paths.

🐻 Maruyama Zoo

Just next door to the park is Maruyama Zoo — small but full of charm. I saw polar bears, red pandas, and a very sleepy lion.

🍫 Shiroi Koibito Park

In the afternoon, I headed to Shiroi Koibito Park, a dreamy spot for anyone with a sweet tooth. The pastel buildings, interactive exhibits, and dessert café made it feel like a mini European village.

🎁 Rokkatei Sapporo Main Store

Quick stop at Rokkatei to grab souvenirs (and a few treats for myself). Their packaging and presentation are as beautiful as the sweets.

🍣 Early Dinner at Sapporo Jogai Ichiba

I had a fresh negitoro don (minced tuna rice bowl) at Sapporo Central Wholesale Market. The seafood was incredibly fresh — and the market vibe was fun and local.

🍺 Evening at the Sapporo Beer Museum

To finish the day, I visited the historic Sapporo Beer Museum. After a short tour through the old brick building, I sat down for a classic jingisukan dinner (grilled lamb) with a fresh draft of Sapporo beer.

✨ Day 2 Wrap-up

From tranquil temples to chocolate dreams and a beer hall finale, this day was filled with contrasts — and they all flowed together beautifully. Sapporo knows how to balance quiet and fun in the best way.

📌 Tip: All of today’s spots are easily accessed via subway from Sapporo Station or nearby stops. Plan for a full-day outing with walking shoes and an empty stomach!
